Leadership
WCU is led by Chancellor John W. Bardo, the university’s chief administrative officer, along with Provost Kyle Carter and several advisory groups. The institution operates under the guidance and policies of the Board of Trustees of Western Carolina University.
As part of the University of North Carolina's 16-campus system, WCU also falls under the administration of UNC President Erskine B. Bowles, and the Board of Governors, advised by UNC Faculty Assembly.
