Percussion ensemble to perform contemporary concert on Oct. 23
10/8/2008 - Western Carolina University’s 12-student percussion ensemble will present a concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the recital hall of Coulter Building on Western’s campus.
The ensemble, directed by Mario Gaetano, professor of percussion, will perform selections of contemporary music written or arranged specifically for percussion instruments, including Henry Cowell’s “Pulse,” David Gillingham’s “Normandy Beach,” Elliot Del Borgo’s “Introduction and Rondo,” Thomas Gauger’s “Gainsborough” and Chick Corea’s “Spain.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
